2010 a hectic year!

Hiya, its has been far too long since I last posted something on our blog - I guess it is well titled, the kids are just growing up quickly and time seems to be flying by. So I'll start with a New Year resolution, a little early as it is only December 2010, but I will resolve to post more often during the year so that our friends and family can share a little of what we have been doing.

2010 has been full of fun for us all, but of course mostly for the boys! During the summer we spent many hours at the beach, the boys dug big holes and tried hard to stop the tide from coming in and I learnt to wind surf. Both were a hopeless cause, but at least we had fun trying! No doubt we'll be back again next year to try to defeat nature, at least I can perfect the art of falling in gracefully! Naturally we don't have any pictures of this epic summer event as we were too busy doing to get around to taking photos!

2010 also saw a regular arrival of house guests including Julia from Germany, Ginny from South Africa, Karel from Holland and to finish it off Sandy from Germany for the epic Heart to Drum 2010. It was the event of the year, it nearly finished me off completely in terms of stamina, and it is definately a highlight of a busy year of drumming. For some crazy reason I suggested that we hold the Psalm Drummers national event in Colchester at our church, Kingsland. Fortunately they have the best building in the world for events so we managed, after much hard work, to pack 200 drummers into the venue and have a thrilling day of workshops, pro demos and 108 decibel worship. If you've never experienced worship at that volume, then you've definatley need to come to the next event - 200 drummers worship Jesus with passion and every ounze of strenth in their playing ... a truely corporate experience.

Samuel started his new life at senior school in September. It has been an amazingly easy transition. He's grown in confidence, so much so that when the snow came he thought nothing of taking on the year 11 boys in a snowball fight (that's age 15), fortunately he's a fast runner! Reuben is king of the castle at his school now, leading the way for his friends. The biggest dilemma of the year was when his friends asked him to state who his best friend was ... well, the problem is that he has so many friends and he didn't want to have to choose. It must be lovely to be so popular.

Terry has had an incredibly busy year for his charity. He works so hard and has achieved incredible results. The stories of lives restored and justice brought are really very moving and make all the hard work so worthwhile. He has such an incredible ability to network with the right individuals and has won the support of the largest and most influencial churches in London and supporters in the legal community, it is such a testiment to his abilities and God's grace as doors have opened and friendships established.

Now there is so much more I could chat about, but time presses on as there is still work do be done before Christmas and the inevitable chasing of clients for payments before they all head off for the holidays. I've had some great people to work with this year, Amie, Rachel, Annie, Emmanuel, helping to make work fun!

So I'll finish this post by including a few photos from the year and wishing anyone who happens to read this a very happy Christmas and pray for you all that 2011 brings many joys and much laughter to you and your household ... until next time!
