Growing up quickly

The boys are growing up so quickly, but then so are we .... growing older, and hopefully a little wiser as we go along. On our way home from Oz, I watched a film 'Little Miss Sunshine'. It wasn't really any good, except one part where an adult tries to explain to a teenager that in fact it is when things are tough and we are challenged and suffer that we actually grow the most and life is the more interesting. When the sun is shining and all is calm saling, life is not nearly so interesting. His conclusion was not to miss all the opportunities for suffering! Sometimes I know just what he means, though I like the calm bits too as we all need time to rest in between the daily struggles. I guess it is like the weather - sunshine comes between the rain and helps us forget the rain and rejoice that there's water there to feed the plants and us too!
